Course Description

This course provides the skills necessary to perform Level 1 Maintenance on the LMS100 gas turbine.  In addition to classroom instruction, the course also includes hands-on maintenance procedures such as removal, adjustment, and replacement of external parts.

Prerequisites

Participants must have:

  • Instruction is given in English; therefore, a reasonable ability to read and understand spoken English is required.
  • Reasonable computer skills
  • Basic understanding of your gas turbine or completion of the LMS100 Engine Familiarization course is highly recommended, as well as, reasonable level of mechanical skill and use of hand tools is required

Learning Objectives

This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

 

  • Different levels of maintenance
  • Use of OMM (Operations and Maintenance Manual)
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Rigging
  • Replacement of components (variable geometry actuators, hydraulic control unit, variable geometry pump, lube and scavenge pump, pressure and temperature sensors, fuel nozzles, accelerometers, ignition components, starter, speed sensors, air/oil separator, carbon seals, pipes, hoses)

LESSON 1

  1. Discussion of Different Levels of Maintenance
  2. Use of Applicable Operations and Maintenance Manuals
  3. Preventative Maintenance and Servicing

LESSONS 2 - 5

  1. Replacement of selected external components including variable geometry actuators
  2. Hydraulic control unit, VG pump, VBV doors and rigging of system if applicable
  3. Lubrication and scavenge pump, pressure and temperature sensors, fuel nozzles, vibration
  4. Accelerometers, ignition components, starter, speed sensors, carbon seals
  5. External pipes and hoses
